The patented C-A-T® is a true one-handed tourniquet proven to be 100% effective by the U.S. Army’s Institute of Surgical Research. Tests proved that the CAT completely occluded blood flow of an extremity in the event of a traumatic wound with significant hemorrhage.

The Gen 7 CAT utilizes a durable windlass system with a patented free-moving internal band providing true circumferential pressure to the extremity. Once adequately tightened, bleeding will cease and the windlass is locked into place. A hook and loop windlass retention strap is then applied, securing the windlass to maintain pressure during casualty evacuation. The CAT’s unique dual securing system avoids the use of screws and clips which can become difficult to operate under survival stress or where fine motor skills are compromised.

The patented Combat Application Tourniquet® (C-A-T®) featuring the proprietary red tip design and the mechanical advantage of a band within a band has been the Official Tourniquet of the U.S. Army since 2005. The innovations in the CAT are protected by U.S. Patent Nos. 7,842,067 and 7,892,253.

First of all, Refuge Medical is the GOAT. Secondly, that extends to the gear they make. The BearFAK 3.0 is, by FAR, the most intuitive IFAK I've ever laid hands on. It's just slightly bigger than the military issued standard IFAK, but it fits the components better, leaving more space for extra necessities. I've thrown in a few extra CELOX gauze packs for good measure. Thank you, Refuge Medical, for another outstanding product!

My favorite IFAK design. This is the 2nd SOB I have gotten. First was in multicam during my time in the 82nd Airborne. I chose it for compact design and all around quality. I'm a surgical Technician of 30 years and this is one of the best put together, and most extensive first aid bag you could purchase. I have acquired all but 2 out of approximately 20 of my kits from Refuge, and even those pale in comparison. The staff, customer service, and mission of Refuge Medical is beyond compare. I purchased just pouch almost a yr ago and have worn it everyday. It has held up from work, ridding horses, to everyday life. I have been lucky that I have not had to use any items from kit. This is a legit Cat7 as you will only find legit products with Refuge Medical. I love this company because of their quality products and how they are not ashamed of God. I finally bought 2 tourniquets from you. I was training someone last night, and my eBay Chinese cheapy ripped a seam as I was cranking it down..... And that was one of my personal tourniquets that I pulled out of my own med bag. As in, I would have used this in a real situation. That was embarrassing, to say the least. Not only am I a "group leader", but I'm a military veteran.👀 So, someone I care about, someone who I was responsible for, could have died, because I was lazy and cheap. I'm letting that lesson sink in. "Bad gear will kill good people." I have applied "corrective training" to myself, and I will be improving my gear. Keep doing what you do, Bear. I've been watching you for years, and it took this long for a painful lesson to hit home.

Awesome product and legit. Great people at Refuge Medical. I appreciated the video that was sent also. Tourniquet is set up and part of edc. I also purchased a Bear Minimum, excellent ifak. It stays in my vehicle and the tourniquet is set on that as well.
