New formula oral rehydration salts

A new formula for oral rehydration salts (ORS), has been released by the World Health Organization. The new formula ORS, a sodium and glucose solution, is widely used to treat children with acute diarrhea. Since WHO adopted ORS in 1978 as its primary tool to fight diarrhea, the mortality rate for children suffering from acute diarrhea has fallen from 5 million to 1.3 million deaths annually.

The new improved formula is the result of extensive research sponsored by WHO’s Department of Child and Adolescent Health and Development and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The latest study was conducted in five developing countries among children from one month to two years old with acute diarrhea and dehydration.

The study’s findings suggest that using the low-sodium, low-glucose ORS formulation reduces the need for intravenous fluids by 33 percent. The effect of this reduction could result in fewer children requiring hospitalization, fewer secondary infections, a diminished need to handle blood with its potentially dangerous consequences, and lower health care costs.

First of all, Refuge Medical is the GOAT. Secondly, that extends to the gear they make. The BearFAK 3.0 is, by FAR, the most intuitive IFAK I've ever laid hands on. It's just slightly bigger than the military issued standard IFAK, but it fits the components better, leaving more space for extra necessities. I've thrown in a few extra CELOX gauze packs for good measure. Thank you, Refuge Medical, for another outstanding product!

I'm a surgical Technician of 30 years and this is one of the best put together, and most extensive first aid bag you could purchase. I purchased just pouch almost a yr ago and have worn it everyday. It has held up from work, ridding horses, to everyday life. I have been lucky that I have not had to use any items from kit. Its hot here in Florida! After a long day outdoors and forgetting my water, I took one of these hydration packets and felt brand new. Now it's a part of my Refuge Medical BearFak and Adventure Kits. Worth it!

Never realizing that water alone wasn’t enough for good rehydration until Refuge was talking about it earlier this year, I decided to test Trioral Rehydration Salts during my busy outdoor yardwork this summer. I was really surprised to realize what a difference it made in how I felt, both while working, and later in the evening at rest. None of the normal fatigue, headache, leg cramps, etc. I was sold! I’ve been ordering Trioral regularly, and have been recommending it by word of mouth to people I know since summer. This product is a proven winner!

Had an opportunity to try this product after a bout of feeling like crap, while recovering from the most recent Wuhan virus strain! Definitely helped me rehydrate without that overly sweet taste like most Electrolyte products on the market! Will definitely keep this product on hand!

Way better than the old military rehydration salts and a must have! I keep a couple in my lunch box, a couple in my kit, a couple in my ruck, and a box in the truck with my spare water. It does have a slight salt flavor that can be masked with other flavor packets if you wish.

Because it’s extremely easy for me to get dehydrated even when drinking copious amounts of liquids it’s nice to have this tool on hand at home. It’s easily portable. It doesn’t taste the greatest but it beats the hell out of the other alternative which is IV fluids. Plus, if I throw a little crystal light in with it then it just tastes like salty gatorade. Reasonably priced and very worth it. Thanks Refuge.

I work outside and I use liquid iv before I tried this stuff the liquid iv stuff tastes better but I really feel the difference between the two with the salts is a far better choice do the things people
