Here at Refuge we take the knowledge of how to prevent massive bleeding seriously. So seriously, that we decided to dive into our existing curriculum and create a class focused around the “M” inside of the MARCHE algorithm. In this course you will be empowered with the knowledge of how to:

  • Apply manual pressure to an artery
  • Wound pack a junctional wound
  • Successfully apply a tourniquet to both yourself and others.

First of all, Refuge Medical is the GOAT. Secondly, that extends to the gear they make. The BearFAK 3.0 is, by FAR, the most intuitive IFAK I've ever laid hands on. It's just slightly bigger than the military issued standard IFAK, but it fits the components better, leaving more space for extra necessities. I've thrown in a few extra CELOX gauze packs for good measure. Thank you, Refuge Medical, for another outstanding product!

My favorite IFAK design. This is the 2nd SOB I have gotten. First was in multicam during my time in the 82nd Airborne. I chose it for compact design and all around quality. I still keep I on my chest rig for ranges. This 2nd SOB in green for my new life as a college student. It lives on my armor upgraded backpack.

I'm a surgical Technician of 30 years and this is one of the best put together, and most extensive first aid bag you could purchase. I have acquired all but 2 out of approximately 20 of my kits from Refuge, and even those pale in comparison. The staff, customer service, and mission of Refuge Medical is beyond compare. I purchased just pouch almost a yr ago and have worn it everyday. It has held up from work, ridding horses, to everyday life. I have been lucky that I have not had to use any items from kit. I carry a lot of items in my pockets so this is nice to be able to carry medical supplies. I have recommended it to people and would to anyone.

I've been wanting to come to a training for awhile now, but haven't been able to leave my family to make the trip. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to take this instructional webinar! Because of this course, I now feel much more confident in my ability to safely respond to an emergency, apply a tourniquet, and pack a wound. I retired from EMS 10 yrs ago. I always missed the CME,(continuing medical education), as skillsets are perishable without review and practice. One of the best instructional Webinars I have attended, and I've attended quite a few. The goals were well stated and definitely achieved. Presentation and content were excellent. All that said, what really makes this course stand out is the passion of the staff. It's obvious that they really care. Everyone should have at least a basic understanding of this topic as you never know when you could be called upon to "preserve" life.

I believe i signed up the first day the class was announced. I had purchased my pass to the webinar, the training materials and decided to get a bearfak at the same time. With less than a week till class I learned that canada was possibly going to have a postal strike. I immediately call refuge to discuss my options. I was lucky to get Mike (bad reception i think that was his name) Mike was very helpful. He suggested to continue with the class and that when my materials arrive i can go back to bears Playlist to learn proper Tourniquet applications and staging. Being a bear subscriber I knew where to go. To the. Class itself, what can I say, I loved it. I entered the class with very little information and left the class feeling I could at least give someone the chance to live in a massive bleeding situation. I felt Bob was great!!! A few light hearted jokes but mostly business. So going forward this is my plan. Once my materials arrived i will materials the application and staging. Once I feel confident I will begin drills. I have chosen words from the "bear bingo card" while I watch the bear briefs, when bear says these words I will drill until I can consistently get blood flow to stop within 20 seconds (that's reasonable yes?) To sum this all up. Despite the delivery of the training materials I give the class 10/10. I can't wait to see what comes next

I took the Bleeding Prevention Webinar on 5 January 2025, taught by Bob with Mike D and a couple others managing the comments section. If you're undecided as to whether you should take the webinar - DO IT! Bob and team hit the high points, reinforced it with hands-on repetition and fielded lots of questions. These folks all know what they're about; they've been there, done that. This is great for both new folks who want to be better prepared and seasoned folks who want a refresher.
